These are some quotes that I have picked up over the years that have stuck with me. Collected from a pool of sources including movies, music, and books. These powerful messages help motivate me as well as provide insight while navigating this confusing game called life. I hope sharing them with you will do the same for you.
What better way to start this page than with a quote from my favorite artist of all time. This quote is from NF's song "My Life" off of his Perception album. I have been listening to this album and his music in general for years now. So what does this quote mean to me? So. Damn. Much.
This line really stood out to me because it is what I would consider the perfect answer to the question so many of us are plagued with; what is life about? I believe that the word "life" contains an endless amount of definitions, each attached to our own individual belief system. What it means to me, may be the complete opposite to you. But one thing I think is universal, is that it is up to us to live our lives circled around the constant search for that definition. Maybe it is to build something that will allow others to live better / easier. Maybe it's to gain as much knowledge as possible contained inside this universe, knowing there is no limit. Either way, the journey to discover this definition comes with taking risks. Playing safe and small will not provide you answers, at least not ones you are content with. We are constantly bombarded with external energy, aiming to dictate how we should live our lives. External ideologies that attempt to persuade our perspective in one direction or another. It is the individual's responsibility to live their truth, and protect who they are in this world.
I was listening to a Joe Dispenza montage and he dropped this gem of a quote. This doctor combines neuroscience with manifestation and the power of belief. While there exists a constantly growing list of manifestation "coache" that I listen to that don't back anything they say up with actual science or logic; Dr. Joe Dispenza is one that I have learned a lot from. This quote perfectly portrays his message that often times we get stuck in the memories of our past. These memories include mistakes, bad situations, failures, bad habits, etc.
The only TRUE time period that exists is RIGHT now. When navigating right now, we have two choice; we can either try to live based off of what we have experienced in the past, or we can try to live based off our future selves. In the future, are we sucessful? Do we have the things that we want? Did we grow past our current selves? While it is easier to cling to the past; as it technically HAS happened while the future has NOT, doing so will only keep you repeating the same things over and over. So many of us (myself included) may change aspects of ourselves in the current in an attempt to build a better future, yet our subconsious is married to who we were in the past. Therefore, how much can really change? Shifting the focus on a subconsious level towards a future self with endless possibilities as to what that self looks like, will truly allow one to build the life that they want.
Such a simple quote, yet so much to unpack here. Snowfall is a crime show that takes place in 1980's California. Without making it about the show in general, I will stick to the scene regarding this quote. At this point in the show, The main character Franklin gets about $75 million stolen. He hires his wife's mother to trace where the money went and help get it back. After a couple weeks of work, his wife's mother informs him they think they know where it went. Expecting to hear that they are able to actually get it back, he flips out. She appropriately reminds him to be patient with the above words of wisdom.
I can relate to this quote, and this scene as a whole so much. As much self-work as I have done over the years, I do not consider myself a patient person. I can be impatient with my work, my relationships, and anything in between. While it is good to try and accomplish as much as you can and move with efficiency, at the end of the day life is a marathon. Reaching your goals is a marathon. Remaining impatient will only cause you to trip.Patience is truly the key to remaining on top of things in your life, especially when unexpected turns in the road pop-up.
